A woman in her 20s was killed early Monday morning after reportedly swerving into traffic on 35th Avenue.
The Phoenix Police Department said 23-year-old Nancy Patino, driving a Toyota Corolla, drifted left of center and hit a vehicle in the northbound lanes of 35th Avenue.
The 19-year-old man driving the second vehicle was not hurt. A 17-year-old girl who was in his vehicle was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Officer James Holmes believes the driver of the Toyota Corolla may have been impaired and not properly restrained.
The crash caused North 35th Avenue to be closed at Maryland to just south of Glendale during rush hour Monday morning.
