We may be in the midst of summer vacation, but the United Way of Pioneer Valley is already looking ahead to the new school year.
Saturday marked the launch of the group's fourth annual Stuff the Bus campaign.
The goal is to fill 1,000 backpacks with necessary supplies for children facing homelessness in the Pioneer Valley.
Organizers said there is a wide range of supplies needed to fill the backpacks.
"We've already purchased the backpacks, so we've got those ready to go," said Debra Foley, senior marketing and communications manager for the group. "What we're looking for is the supplies to fill them. So, pens, pencils, glue sticks, markers, crayons, reusable water bottles, notebooks, folders."
You can donate items every Saturday between now and August 3 at the Holyoke Mall.
On July 20, they will also have a drop off station at the Staples in Chicopee.
CBS 3 Springfield is a proud partner of the Stuff the Bus campaign.
