It appears a metro-Atlanta pooch now holds the title, "Fastest Dog on a Scooter".
Norman, a three-year-old French sheepdog, attempted the feat Friday at All Tournament Players Park in Marietta.
He traveled 30 meters in 21.75 seconds on a scooter, unofficially beating the old record by more than nine seconds. The Guinness Book of World Records still must certify the results, which will likely take several weeks.
"We're so excited. He made it," exclaimed Karen Cobb, Norman's owner.
Dozens of fans were on hand to watch the attempt. Many took pictures; some held signs with sayings such as "Every Dog Has His Day".
"He's ridden the scooter thousands of times, and he likes it," explained Chris Cobb, Norman's other owner. Chris said Norman just jumped on as a puppy one day.
To the crowd's delight, Norman took a victory lap, not on a scooter, but on a bicycle.
The event also raised money for Road Trip Home, a group that rescues animals from high kill shelters.
