The National Weather Service has confirmed a microburst hit Agawam Monday.
The NWS says the microburst hit in two areas of the town.
Several cars were crushed by uprooted trees in a parking lot in Agawam shortly after noon Monday. A severe storm ripped through the neighborhood taking down trees and power lines from Main Street to Route 5.
Dozens of people were without power, but a majority of customers had their lights back by 6 p.m. Monday.
Barb Stowe said her truck was totaled when a massive tree crushed it at a corporate park near the intersection of Hunt Street and Meadow Street. She said it was almost paid off.
Nearly a dozen cars were towed from the lot where at least two large trees were uprooted and several more snapped.
There were no reports of any injuries and most of the people whose cars were damaged said they were just thankful nobody was hurt.
