GLOBE, AZ (CBS5) -

A Globe man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to punching his estranged wife in the face as she clung to her child and in a separate case, possessing methamphetamine.

Jason Moss, 43, will serve 6.25 years at the Arizona Department of Corrections.

The entire attack was caught on home surveillance video, and the brutality is tough to watch.

"She's holding her puppy, which is a little pit bull, and my 2 1/2-year-old son," said the woman's boyfriend, Bobby Brown, who posted the video to Facebook in order to generate publicity and encourage law enforcement to go after his girlfriend's alleged attacker.

Brown is the father of the child seen in the woman's arms as she's repeatedly punched in the face.

"When I seen the video, all I wanted to do was rip his head off," Brown said.

The attack, which left the victim with a black eye, happened around 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Brown's home in Globe while he was out of town.

A spokesman for the Gila County Sheriff's Office confirmed at the time the man caught on camera delivering the vicious blows is the woman's estranged husband.

"It's very shocking," GCSO Sgt. Virgil Dodd said. "All I can tell you is there was a white male in the video known to me as Jason Moss. He did strike the female in the video twice."

Deputies arrested the 42-year-old felon after being tipped off that Moss was at a friend's house in the neighboring town of Miami.

"I hope he gets exactly what he deserves," Brown said.

While on pretrial release, Moss was found in possession of methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to the assault and methamphetamine charges on Oct. 1. The plea agreements dictated aggravated, consecutive sentences.
