PD: Suspect threatens employee with screwdriver during Walmart robbery

NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

Three people were arrested after police said they stole $30,000 worth of cell phones from a Walmart in Naugatuck early Thursday morning.

According to police, the suspects broke into a one of the store's cabinets that housed electronics around 3 a.m.

One of the suspects threatened employees with a screw driver, police said.

The suspects fled the Walmart and headed down New Haven Road.

After the vehicle description was broadcast to other departments, state police located the car, which was involved in a crash on Route 334 in Seymour.

Police took the three suspects to an area hospital where they were treated and released. 

Terrance Smith, 30, Arder L. Scott, 24, and Tyriek Dennis, 23, were arrested.

Scott and Dennis were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and second-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief. Both are being held on $100,000 bond.

Smith was first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. He is being held on $50,000 bond.

Police told Eyewitness News police departments in other towns are looking to see if the three men are responsible for recent robberies.
