A 26-year-old Lake County man charged after breaking into his ex's house and fighting with police in Painesville Township.
It happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Woodland Road.
The female victim called 911 to report her ex-boyfriend, Patrick Cozart, was trying to break into her home. The victim said Cozart was making threats to hurt her and has been violent in the past.
Upon arrival, deputies observed Cozart entering the house through a side bedroom window. Cozart had forced his way through the window by pushing an air conditioning unit into the bedroom.
Deputies approached the window and ordered Cozart to come out of the house, but he refused. Deputies entered the home, and one deputy managed to tackle Cozart onto a bed where a brief physical struggle ensued. With assistance from additional deputies, Cozart was taken into custody and removed from the residence.
Cozart was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated burglary, menacing by stalking, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
