The Bureau of Land Management says Energy Fuels Inc. plans to begin production at one of its uranium mines in northern Arizona within a month.
The agency says work at the Pinenut Mine in Mohave County is expected to continue for two to three years under an approved operations plan.
The mine is on federal land north of the Grand Canyon that was withdrawn last year from any new mining claims. BLM officials say the withdrawal did not affect mining operations that were approved at the time the withdrawal decision was made or new operations on valid existing claims.
Energy Fuels also plans to begin reclamation at its Kanab North Mine soon, while reclamation at the Arizona 1 Mine is expected to begin before the end of the year.
