Twenty-three DUI citations were issued by the Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force over the Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
The recently deployed task force conducted saturation patrols throughout Cochise County over the holiday weekend and enacted 71 traffic stops in total.
The 71 traffic stops produced the following results:
Citations issued: 23
Warnings issued: 38
Repair order issued: 5
Designated drivers: 2
Field sobriety tests: 3
Extreme DUI: 1 (BAC=.25)
Drug arrests: 1
Open container: 1
Other arrests: 5
Cochise County Sheriff Mark J. Dannels reminds anyone who drinks to not drive.
"We are striving to relate that our best measure of success is seeing the reduction and ultimately the elimination of alcohol related injury and fatality incidents. Please don't drink and drive," he said.
