Two people were sentenced Tuesday for their roles in a shooting that left an owner dead outside his south Toledo gym.
Matthew Managhan and Chad Brown will both spend 15 years behind bars after admitting their involvement and pleading guilty to aggravated robbery and involuntary manslaughter commission of felonious assault with a gun.
Both men stood before the judge Tuesday and apologized.
An investigation showed they planned the robbery, which left gym owner, Joe Lengel, dead. They say Lengel was not the intended target and that they were after someone whom they believed had drugs and money.
In the courtroom Tuesday afternoon, a note by Lengel's wife was read by a friend.
"There is no punishment severe enough that can make up for the loss that Joe's family and the community that loved Joe has suffered. Hopefully there are those in the community that can feel a little safer that the seriously dangerous individuals plotting robbery and murder are imprisoned on this day."
Three other suspects were involved in the murder: Jason Kuhns, Devonte Harris and Deitrekk Boone. Kuhns and Harris also entered guilty pleas, but Boone still remains at large.
