The Phoenix Coyotes' uncertain ownership saga may have finally impacted on them on the ice. After three years of making the playoffs without an owner, the Coyotes fell short this season after another potential owner fell through.
Former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison appeared to be set to buy the team, but his deal fell apart in late January.
The Coyotes got the strike-shortened season off to a slow start and never fully recovered, plagued by injuries and inconsistent play.
Phoenix finished 21-18-9 and four points short of the Western Conference's final playoff spot.
The Coyotes are expected finally get an ownership answer this offseason, whether it's with one of several new suitors or being relocated to another city.
