Friday was a special night in what has been a special season for the Deerfield Lady Knights soccer team.
Senior Casey Kincheloe scored her 114th career goal during Deerfield's 3-1 quarterfinal win over Mount de Sales Friday.
The win kept Deerfield alive in their quest for the school's first ever state championship.
It's an accomplishment Kincheloe says she never could've imagined reaching, but now that she's at the summit, she wants to add to her total.
It's not that she wants to pad her stats, but she wants to make the accomplishment even greater for whoever comes along and breaks her record.
"I want people in the future to break my record," she says. "That's one of the reasons I tried to break it, to make it more challenging for students that play soccer."
Kincheloe will try to add more goals during the Lady Knights' semifinal home matchup with Westminster on Wednesday.
DWS Head Coach Aly Joslin says Kincheloe's play will be the key.
"Once you get the ball onto her feet, she's going to create something and do something special," he says. "That's the positive of having a player like that. Whenever she receives the ball, you take a deep breath and wait to see what she's going to do next."
