NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -
A woman was caught sneaking nearly three pounds of illegal pork products into the United States by the U.S. Customs and Border Protections agriculture specialists at the Nogales border crossing Monday.
A female was driving a vehicle with Utah plates Monday while trying to cross the border when CBP sent her for an additional screening. The woman was asked several times if she had anything to declare and she told the CBP agents no.
A CBP agriculture dog searched the woman's vehicle when it alerted agents to a cereal box. Inside the cereal box there were nearly 3 pounds of pork products wrapped in a towel.
CBP agents seized the pork products and destroyed them.
The woman was fined for failure to declare the prohibited agriculture product and was then released.
