Grand Ole Opry star Charlie Daniels is recovering Thursday after having surgery to insert a pacemaker, according to his publicist.
After visiting a doctor Monday, Daniels was diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia and admitted to the hospital for a series of tests.
Physicians then determined that a pacemaker was needed to regulate his heart rate.
He plans to be released from a Nashville hospital on Friday and then will spend the next two weeks recovering at home.
"I just had not been feeling well and wanted to get checked out," Daniels said in a news release. "I am thankful the doctors found the problem and were able to implant a pacemaker to get my heart rate regulated. I am feeling so much better and looking forward to spending Easter with my family."
Daniel's performance at Middle Tennessee State University's Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, TN, has been canceled. Two early April concerts in Englewood, NJ, and Newark, OH, have also been canceled and will be re-scheduled.
The singer is expected to resume his touring schedule in Lynchburg, VA on April 11.
