With release of documents, Newtown vote imminent

HARTFORD, CT (AP) -

House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero Jr. says he expects Connecticut's General Assembly to be ready to vote next week on a legislative package addressing the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, now that search warrants in the case have been released.

The Norwalk Republican said Thursday it's likely lawmakers will vote Wednesday on a bill.

Cafero's House Republicans are expected to meet privately Monday to discuss legislation negotiated by Democratic and Republican legislative leaders, who've yet to finalize the bill. They were scheduled to continue their talks on Thursday.

Cafero said lawmakers didn't know the extent of weapons and ammunition shooter Adam Lanza had in his home until they saw the warrants. He said the new information "has the potential to validate what we've been working on."
