Signs asking people to "find serenity" and stating that "your opinions are not always important" appeared outside Windsor Locks Town Hall.
Town officials told Eyewitness News that the signs were posted late last week and were taken down Wednesday afternoon once the first selectman got wind of it.
Some people in town claim that officials will not listen to their opinions or complaints at Town Hall meetings.
"I thought it was ridiculous. I didn't know if that was actually thrown at individuals here in town. If it was a mistake. I really didn't know," said Peter Tomalonis of Windsor Locks. "But, I think it's a pretty low blow to the residents of the town Windsor Locks."
Windsor Locks Public Works Department Spokesman Scott Lappen explained to Eyewitness News that the facility maintainer, whom he didn't identify by name, is in charge of putting up the sign.
Lappen added that most often, the signs are communicating town messages.
"He's had other signs up there, you know, about spring, it's on it's way," Lappen said. "And other things along that nature."
Lappen admitted that the sign upset some residents.
"This one struck a nerve with quite a few people and I can see why," he said.
Lappen did not say if the employee, who has worked for the town for almost 20 years, will be disciplined.
