DELTA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train at Norfolk Southern railroad tracks and County Road F-G west of Delta.

A dispatcher from the Fulton County Sheriff's Department says the call came in just before noon.

During investigation, a woman's body was found along the railroad tracks. After deputies spoke with the Norfolk Southern engineer, deputies learned that she was laying on the tracks prior to being struck by the train.

An air ambulance arrived on the scene, but Lisa Sawyers, 44, of Ida, MI, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they believe this was a suicide because there appears to be no foul play. An investigation is ongoing.
