HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A ground-breaking ceremony Tuesday marked the arrival of the Infinity Music Hall in the Front Street Entertainment District and further cemented the revitalization of the city's downtown.

Whispers about the project began circulating a year ago, and now with financing in place, it will become a reality soon.

It will join Front Street tenants such as the Spotlight Theater and Capital Grille and will be located close to the Convention Center and Hartford Marriott Downtown.

Dan Hincks founded the Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk less than five years ago, and the intimate music venue and restaurant has been a runaway hit.

More recently, Hincks decided bringing that concept to Hartford just might work.

"Kind of a high quality, acoustically pristine, intimate space," he said. "So it's really high quality but it's really relaxed, which is really what people want."

The latest Infinity Hall venue will have 500 seats, which is double what the Norfolk theater has.

It also represents an investment in Hartford of more than $5 million.

"I'm glad to see its renaissance really getting going," Hincks said. "And we're excited to be a big part of that."

The plan is for Infinity Music Hall to open in Hartford in 10 to 12 months with 250 shows per year.
