The Monroe County Sheriff's Department tell us that at around 2:30 Friday morning, Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a house in the 1000 block of Union Street after a report of subjects breaking into a garage.
Shortly thereafter, the caller says the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The investigation revealed that the 40-year-old homeowner became aware that someone was possibly breaking into his unattached garage. The homeowner went outside to check the garage's security. When he entered the garage, the homeowner was confronted by a 20-year-old male. The two men began to fight, and the 20-year-old suspect was stabbed. The suspect then fled the scene.
The suspect was later found at Mercy Hospital where he received medical attention for a non life-threatening stab wound.
The Sheriff's Office will be seeking charges of Breaking and Entering.
This incident is being investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff's Detective Bureau and deputies from the Uniformed Services Division. Anyone with information about this incident should call the Detective Bureau at 240-7530.
