Police from Farmington Valley respond to business break-ins

AVON, CT (WFSB) -

Police from Avon, Canton and Simsbury responded to break-ins at local businesses.

Police in Avon are investigating break-ins at a jewelry store and hair salon.

Officials told Eyewitness News that Kevin Edwards Jewelers on West Main Street was burglarized at some point overnight. The door had been smashed in and some items were taken. It is unknown what exactly was taken from the shop at this time.

Avon police also responded to a second break-in at the Hair Loft on Simsbury Road. Investigators have not found anything taken from the store, but there was damage to the front door.

Canton police are also looking into break-ins at two local businesses early Friday morning on Albany turnpike.

Officers responded to Hollywood Nails and Head First Hair Design and Company where they found signs of a burglary. Canton police said there were things taken from the Albany turnpike businesses but could not say what at this time in the investigation.

Canton officers followed a suspect's car but lost the course of the vehicle.

Simsbury police are also investigating a break-in at Old Town pizza restaurant. Officers on a routine patrol noticed that the front door was shattered around 3:30 a.m. It is unknown if anything was taken from the restaurant.

Investigators are still working on finding out if the break-ins are connected. 

No other details have been released.
