Gunfire erupted during an attempted armed robbery on Wayland and Wethersfield avenues Thursday afternoon in Hartford. Police are trying to track down a pair of suspects after the store clerks fought off the assailants.
Investigators said two suspects walked into the Gulf gas station on Wethersfield Avenue, displayed a gun and demanded cash from the two store owners working inside.
The owners put up a fight trying to disarm the gunman. One of them injured his hand fighting back.
Shots were fired but no one got hurt.
Police are reviewing store surveillance as the search continues for the two male suspects who are responsible, according to police. Detectives said the suspects left forensic evidence behind.
Police were doing a perimeter search on Ledyard Street where they say the suspects were headed on foot.
