BG Police train bars before St. Patrick's Day

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

With St. Patrick's Day approaching, Bowling Green police taught local bar owners and bartenders to make sure their establishments are following the law.

Police offered training Wednesday night on the laws regarding establishments with liquor licenses. There are 58 such establishments in Bowling Green.

A detective with the Bowling Green Police Department (BGPD) went over how to identify fake IDs, serving people underage, over-serving people who are intoxicated, civil liabilities, and various other liquor laws.

"I think it is well-known that in Bowling Green we will enforce liquor laws, and we do have informants out there working consistently," said Det. Scott Kleiber of the BGPD. "I think it helps our businesses do what they're supposed to do and at the same time lets patrons know that those bars are monitored, and I think it makes the citizens of Bowling Green feel safer."

Kleiber also said the Bowling Green police will be out patrolling this weekend to make sure everyone is obeying the law.
