Melody Williams sentenced to 59 years for aggravated murder
Melody Williams was found guilty of aggravated murder among other charges Friday, and sentenced to serve 59 years for her crimes Monday.

A convicted murderer who represented herself in court has been sentenced to serve at least 59 years in prison.
Melody Williams was convicted of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated arson and two counts of tampering with evidence on Friday in the 2011 death of L.C. Lyons, Jr., who was found dead in his Sylvania Township home with a gunshot wound to the head. Williams was found to have set the house on fire to conceal the cause of his death.
Williams was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the aggravated murder charge, plus three years for the firearm specification added to that charge. She was also sentenced to 10 years for aggravated robbery and 10 years for aggravated arson, both the maximum sentence. Williams will serve another 3 years each for the two tampering charges. All said, Williams would have to serve 59 years in jail before going before a parole board.
