Spring break is almost here for Valley students and for parents that are looking for a different way to keep their kids busy, this camp might be it.
It's a scuba diving camp in Peoria. Swimmers as young as 8 years old can become certified to dive in a pool with an instructor at the Scuba Professionals of Arizona.
All kids have to do is bring their swimsuit and a towel.
First, instructors will teach the kids how to swim, if needed. Then they'll teach them how to scuba dive. From there, they can take part in all sorts of adventures in the 13-foot pool
"We'll do a night dive in the swimming pool and they'll all get their own lights and everything and they can swim around and it's just like the ocean. It'll be all dark in here," said Paul Wagenseller, the general manager for Scuba Professionals of Arizona.
"And then we have Deep Ranger, where we simulate a deep dive and then we put a shipwreck together with PVC pipe and have Shipwreck Ranger," Wagenseller said.
Rhyran O'Leary has been scuba diving for two years and loves it.
He explains what it's like to swim in the pool's current generator.
"You're having the ocean, press against you or push you forward or push you side to side, like you're actually out in the ocean," said O'Leary.
Parents can watch their kids swim at the bottom of the pool anytime through the school's website. They have a permanent feed that can show the scuba divers 24 hours a day.
