CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A customer tried to assault a store clerk with a pressure washer after he didn't quickly get a receipt, say police.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at the Sudden Service Station on Madison Street in Clarksville.

Workers at the store said Thomas Dudley Birdsall, 61, bought a ball cap and wanted receipt for his purchase.

A store employee had to get the receipt out of the trash, but Birdsall got impatient and started cursing.

The manager asked Birdsall to leave, but he went to his truck to get a high-pressure washer. He then started power washing the sidewalk and front doors of the service station.

An employee at the business said Birdsall has harassed her for the past seven years.

Later that afternoon, police said he went to another convenience store in a different part of town and did the same thing.

Birdsall was arrested around 8 p.m. He had active warrants for trespassing, disorderly conduct and assault.

Birdsall was arrested in July 2012 after police said he tried to run over a teenager in a Walmart parking lot in Sango, TN.
