NJ's highest court to hear 'joking judge' appeal

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The New Jersey Supreme Court is set to decide if a city judge can have a second career as a comedian.

According to NorthJersey.com, Court Judge Vince Sicari has been a warm-up act on Stephen Colbert's show and moonlighted as a stand-up comic.

An ethics committee ruled Sicari has to quit telling jokes because the two jobs don't mix and it could affect his standing as a judge.

Sicari's attorney noted that plenty of judges publish books and give lectures on the side.
