STRATFORD, CT (WFSB) -

A Stratford man was arrested after police said he randomly stabbed a teenager in an apartment complex parking lot Sunday morning.

According to police, Fedele Poppa, 26, was seen walking through the apartment complex on Canaan Court and "acting strangely."

An unidentified 18-year-old man was in the parking lot of the complex and was at his car on his way to work around 9:30 a.m. When police said, Poppa came from behind him and stabbed multiple times.

"He was taking something out of his truck and someone just came behind him and started stabbing him," said the victim's brother, who wished not to be identified. "He stabbed him 11 times."

Police found the victim lying in the parking lot.

"He knows everyone around town," said his brother. "He never got into a fight."

The victim is recovering from serious injuries, including a collapsed lung, at Bridgeport Hospital.

The brother told Eyewitness News that they have "never had a problem" at the complex.

"We don't feel safe living here," he said. "I'm considering moving."

Police arrested Poppa on Monday and charged him with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault in the first degree, breach of peace and possession of under four ounces of marijuana.

Poppa, who has long criminal history including arrests for assault, drugs and threatening, is being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Bridgeport.
