Mental health workers at Natchaug Hospital will picket Monday outside the psychiatric facility's main campus in Mansfield Center over the hospital's demands for contract concessions.
The workers, who are members of the state's largest union of healthcare workers, called the changes "deep and destructive."
Nearly 270 nurses, mental health workers, dietary aides, housekeepers, drivers, maintenance and clerical workers at the hospital have been negotiating the terms of a new agreement with the Hartford Hospital affiliate to succeed the former contract, which expired last September.
Management at the hospital said it was seeking new employee-paid premiums for health insurance, as well as a new cutoff for insurance eligibility for those who work less than full-time.
Workers also said they're becoming concerned by the high rate of on-the-job injuries, which they said was due to inadequate staffing.
The protest is expected to kick off Monday at 2 p.m.
