Middletown police locate body in Connecticut River

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Middletown say they have located a body in the Connecticut River.

They say a call came in from a kayaker reporting the body.

According to police, they were able to locate what appeared to be a male body floating in the river just south of the Cromwell Line by Route 9 north. The Middletown Fire department was called to assist because the body was located down a steep embankment. At approximately 11:30 a.m. Police say they were able to lift the body up to the Route 9 embankment.

An identification of the body has been made, but is being withheld at this time.

Police say no foul play is suspected at this time.
