PD: Woman checking flat tire sexually assaulted

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A woman who pulled off the highway to check on a flat tire was attacked in an apparent sexual assault, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident occurred Saturday at 12:45 a.m. on west Highway 89A at mile post 321 in Prescott Valley. 

The 47-year-old victim suffered cuts on her hands and abdomen, along with injuries to her head and upper body.

She was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East for treatment and later released.

A suspect could not be located, sheriff's deputies said.

The victim was not able to provide a description of the suspect.

Detectives said evidence from the scene was recovered and some items will be submitted to the crime lab for further examination.

Authorities identified one person who was an investigative lead, but no arrest has been made.
