FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

A 29-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail after a stabbing and subsequent standoff at a Flagstaff apartment complex Sunday.

Alonzo Johnson was taken into custody after a police subdued him with a stun gun.

A Flagstaff police officer arrived at the complex and found Johnson's sister and brother-in-law with stab wounds. The victims told the officer the suspect was armed with knives and inside the apartment at 315 W. Phoenix Ave. The officer walked to the door of the apartment and was able to see the suspect with a large knife.

Police said Johnson refused to drop the knife and when another officer arrived, Johnson charged the door. A stun gun was fired, but Johnson was able to shut and lock the door before going upstairs in the apartment.

Officers use the help of another relative to get into the apartment and tried to talk Johnson out before a negotiator and a SWAT unit arrived. After negotiators talked with Johnson for about 90 minutes, tear gas was fired onto the second floor of the apartment, forcing Johnson down the stairwell where an officer used the stun gun on Johnson and he was captured.

He was taken to jail and booked on charges of trespassing, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadline. He bond was set at $50,000.

The sister suffered a stab wound to her lower abdomen and the brother-in-law a cut to his hand. Both were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment and were expected to be OK.
