A driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, and slammed into a Scottsdale church, rupturing a natural gas meter late Sunday night.
A Scottsdale Fire Department spokesman said the driver suffered only minor injuries and a Hazmat crew was called after the 11:50 p.m. crash near McKellips and Scottsdale roads.
Damage was contained to a storage room at the church, the spokesman said.
Gas crews worked through the night to repair the damaged meter.
No other information was immediately available.
