PHOENIX (CBS5) -

One person was killed in a head-on crash that closed Loop 101 southbound at Red Mountain Freeway for several hours Sunday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Details about the crash that happened at around 2:40 p.m. have also not yet been released.

Loop 101 southbound re-opened at around 5 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

No other information was immediately available.
