GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Officers arrested a Lawrenceville man who stole a Krispy Kreme truck at an Exxon gas station on Dacula Road, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Dewayne Tobias, a Krispy Kreme truck driver, called police to report the incident.

While he was making a delivery on Feb. 7, James Fred Major jumped in his truck and sped off, according to reports.

Tobias said Major approached him before he entered the store to start his delivery. Major appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Witnesses said Major was walking around asking for a cigarette before the incident.

Tobias told police that he left the truck's door unlocked, and the keys were in the ignition prior to the theft.

A sheriff's deputy on patrol spotted a truck matching the description of the stolen doughnut truck.

The deputy and backup officers were able to stop Major.

He was charged with DUI, theft by taking, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, obstruction of an officer, and several other traffic-related violations.
