WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Students from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown wrote cards for first responders in Waterford, thanking them for their help in the aftermath of the mass shooting in December.

The notes, cards and thank-you notes were delivered Wednesday.

Waterford first responders said reading through the notes was very moving and reminds them that the community is still trying to cope with the sadness.

The Waterford Police chief thanked all of the police officers who volunteered their time to help the Newtown community.
