Maryland County considers copyrighting school work

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Prince George County Board of Education in Maryland wants to slap a copyright on all the work created by students and faculty.

The proposal says "Works created by employees students ... are properties of the board of education even if created on the employee's or student's time and with the use of their materials."

According to an article in the Washington Post, officials say the proposal was designed to make it clear who owns teacher-developed curriculum created while using apps on iPads that are school property.
