Police seize explosive materials, guns in Stamford

Posted: Updated:
STAMFORD, CT (AP) -

Stamford police say they've seized explosives and shotguns from a city home during a raid that also turned up what appeared to be racist materials.

Officers removed the items from the home Wednesday and Thursday after obtaining a search warrant during an investigation of alleged blight and code violations. Police say they also found a surveillance camera system and a tunnel under the backyard.

The resident of the home cooperated with police and hasn't been charged with any crime. His name hasn't been released.

Police say they found what appeared to be a pipe bomb as well as unidentified chemicals and three shotguns. City police called in the FBI to help identify the chemicals.

Officers say they also found apparent white supremacist materials hanging on a wall.
