90s return, cold front with storms Thursday

Updated:

It has been one week since most of central North Carolina was in the 90s, but that changes today as most of us wait on a cold front Thursday.

It will be very humid today with some areas of fog possible during the morning.  A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 am for most of central North Carolina.  Otherwise it will be partly sunny and hot with highs in the lower 90s.  Our normal high this time of year is 90.  With the heat and humidity, there is a slight risk of a pop up shower or storm during the afternoon and evening.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a slight risk of a shower or thundershower.  The overnight low will be in the lower 70s.

On Thursday a cold front will approach, so there will be a few PM showers and storms around.  There is a slight risk for a strong gusty storm with the cold front. Otherwise it will be humid with clouds and some sun, highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90.

Drier air will try to move in behind the front on Friday and Saturday.  Skies will be partly sunny on Friday with nothing more than a stray shower or thundershower in areas south of the Triangle.  Highs on Friday will be about 2 to 4 degrees cooler than Thursday, so look for a high of 87 on Friday.  Saturday looks like the driest day, with mostly to partly sunny skies and a high near 90.

Sunday will be hot with a high around 93, skies will be partly sunny with an isolated PM storm possible.  Another cold front will approach on Monday, so look for some scattered showers and storms with highs in the lower 90s.

Behind the front on Tuesday, skies will clear and highs will be in the middle 80s.
