HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The Taste of Hartford restaurant week 2013 begins Monday and runs until Feb. 3 with 36 different restaurants in the city participating.

Patrons can enter any of the participating restaurants and purchase a three-course meal for $20.13. The one expectation is MAX Restaurant, which will be offering their special for $25.13.

The annual event is sponsored by the Greater Hartford Arts Council along with the Hartford Advocate.

Four weeks ago, Hot Tomatoes Executive Chef Richard Bovino and his team began planning what they would make.

"We have a scratch kitchen here at Hot Tomatoes," he said. "Everything is made from scratch, from the basics. We buy only the finest ingredients."

Bovino said it wasn't easy coming up with a menu that would be affordable for both the customers and the restaurant.

"Right now, unfortunately, produce out in California is taking a big hit," Bovino said. "Broccoli raab for one has gone from $26 a case to $80 a case. Spinach, romaine, because of the weather."

Bovino said for the 18 days during the Taste of Hartford restaurant week, Hot Tomatoes was "slam busy."
