Bristol city officials are considering a proposal to ban drive-thrus in the downtown area, which has caused one business to fire back with a lawsuit.
The new downtown revitalization project, which is currently under way, would make the North Main Street area into a walkable area by the end of the year. However, city officials said drive-thrus will prevent that from happening.
Bristol officials are looking to place an 18-month moratorium on drive-thrus in the downtown area.
The owner of the Dunkin Donuts located on North Main Street applied for a permit and was denied. So, the owner is suing the city, which he said is "going well."
He told Eyewitness News that he doesn't think the proposal to ban drive-thrus will stick around for very long.
The Bristol Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at the Bristol City Hall, at 111 North Main St., on Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
