A teenager was arrested in New Haven after police said he was in possession of a handgun Thursday night.
Officers were called to the 200 block of Dixwell Avenue at 8:13 p.m. after reports of shots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, police found a 17-year-old boy, who proceeded to run away from officers.
After a short pursuit, officers arrested the teenager, whose name was not released due to his age, and found him in possession of a .32 caliber MAB handgun. He was charged with the commission of two weapons crimes.
He was taken to the juvenile detention center after being interviewed by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
