Southington restaurant owner arrested for fire, liquor violations

SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

The Southington Police Department arrested a restaurant owner in town who is accused of violating liquor laws and fire codes

Officers from the Southington Police Department along with the Southington Fire Department and the Connecticut Liquor Control Commission conducted an investigation into Machiavelli's Restaurant on the night of Oct. 13.

During the investigation, police said the restaurant was found to be violation of several fire codes including the rear exit door of the building being "padlocked shut with sliding bolt locking device and a padlock."

In the event of the emergency, the rear door would be the only means of exit, according to police.

The restaurant also violated several liquor laws, but did not give specifics on the violations.

On Thursday, Spendi Bomova, who is the owner of Machiavelli's Restaurant, was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Bristol Superior Court on Monday.
