Firefighters were able to rescue a man and his dog who were stuck at Lake Hayward in East Haddam Tuesday.

According to the East Haddam Fire Department, they received an emergency call of a dog in the water and a man on the ice at the lake before 9:30 a.m.

Crews from East Haddam, Colchester, Salem and Gardner Lake were called to the scene and quickly performed an ice rescue. The rescue crews were able to get the man, who was not identified, and the dog off the ice within 30 minutes.
