New Haven man arrested after firing handgun at apartment complex

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

The New Haven Police Department arrested a 21-year-old man, who is accused of a drive-by shooting Monday afternoon.

According to police, Luis Reboyras of New Haven was seen leaning outside of an SUV on the 400 block of Eastern Street around 2 p.m. and firing several rounds at the Brook Hollow apartment complex.

After receiving emergency calls from witnesses, officers located the 2012 gray Ford Explorer with an Ohio license plate. However, the vehicle was abandoned.

The surrounding area was searched and a silver handgun as well as a gray sweatshirt, which the suspect was supposedly wearing, were located.

Officers were able to locate Reboyras and arrested him. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.

A second man later identified as Roberto Torrez, 27, was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
