PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A 45-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Monday in connection with a series of vehicle thefts over the past two months.
Richard Cory Barker is suspected of stealing at least four vehicles from December 2012 until his arrest, according to Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department.
Martos said the suspect is believed to have followed his victims into two different northeast Phoenix gymnasiums, broke into their lockers as they worked out and stole personal property, including the keys to their vehicles.
Barker is accused of advertising one of the vehicles online and selling it for $8,900 to an unsuspecting man who paid cash and intended the vehicle to be a Christmas gift for his son, Martos said.
A Phoenix police officer posed as a potential buyer for another of the stolen vehicles on Monday, and Barker was taken into custody.
Martos said property stolen from the victims at the gyms was found in Barker's possession.
Barker was booked on multiple felony counts, including trafficking in stolen property, vehicle theft, third-degree unlawful entry, forgery, identity theft and theft of a credit card.
