Doug Hopkins has been flipping Arizona's foreclosures since the 90s, so when The Discovery Channel asked him to be part of their reality show, he jumped at the chance.
"They contacted me and the rest is history," Hopkins said.
Property Wars follows four flippers from the auction to the big reveal. Each guy has a nickname - Doug is "The Big Shot." They all do their best to beat out the competition and win the bidding war.
Emotions can run high, especially for Hopkins.
"Sometimes my temper gets the best of me and I sit there and cringe a little bit," he said.
What you don't see are the people who have left the homes, the families who lost everything and had to foreclose.
"It's especially hard when you walk through and see the kids' rooms and things left behind and that sort of thing," Hopkins said.
He said the flip side, no pun intended, is that he's taking homes that would be vacant and putting them into the hands of homeowners.
"We clean it up and usually make it one of the better homes on the street. And it really helps out the neighborhood, it helps out the market," he said.
