The Avon Police Department has arrested a man who is accused of having sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old girl.

Police started investigating Joseph Elden Stinnett, 24, in December after receiving complaints.

During the investigation, police said that Stinnett told the girl several times that he was going to travel from his home in Niantic to Avon to meet her for "sexual purposes."

Stinnett was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal attempt at impairing the morals of a minor, criminal attempt at enticing a minor and obscenity.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Friday.
