Saving Arizona blood drive has great turnout

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A collaboration between Saving Arizona and CBS 5 News is helping many Arizonans in need this month.

The Saving Arizona blood drive interviewed 272 donors and collected 233 donations.

United Blood Services Arizona spokeswoman Sue Thew said, "Because each donation can be separated into components to save several patients, those donations are on their way to saving as many as 700 lives in Arizona hospitals."

Thank you for everyone who donates blood - especially those who donated in the blood drive on Jan. 6.
