United Way announces Sandy Hook Support Fund has raised $6 million

NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

The United Way of Western Connecticut announced Friday that $6 million has been collected through the Sandy Hook School Support Fund for the victims of the Newtown school shooting.

The fund was established by the United Way of Western Connecticut and Newtown Savings Bank. The United Way said that 100 percent of the contributions go to the fund.

Checks should be made out to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund and can be mailed to the following address:

  • Sandy Hook School Support Fund
  • Newtown Savings Bank
  • 39 Main Street, Newtown CT, 06470

Besides the Newtown Savings Bank, the following banks are participating in the fundraising effort:

  • Bank of America
  • Wells Fargo
  • ChelseaGroton Bank
  • Union Savings Bank

People can also send a $10 donation to the Sandy Hook Support Fund by texting NEWTOWN to 80888.
