Suspect descriptions released after West Hartford home invasion

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The West Hartford Police Department has released a general description of the three men that they believe were responsible for a home invasion on Chesterfield Lane early Wednesday morning.

Police said three men broke into the home, and one of them displayed a small handgun around 1:15 a.m. The three people inside the home all barricaded themselves in different rooms while the robbers stole several items and fled within five minutes.

A gray, older-model safe, which police said weighed 250 pounds with a digital combination lock on the front, was stolen from the residence.

The suspects are being described as three black men, all in their early 20s and all were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Police would not go into any sort of details, but said the homeowner, identified as Marc Abrahms, was not inside the home at the time of the home invasion.

It is believed two of his sons and one of their friends were inside the home at the time of the incident.

Abrahms pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud charges about 10 years ago, and was confined to the home for six months as part of his sentence.

Police said the home invasion was not random, and the residence may have been targeted.

The home invasion is still under investigation. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-2143.
